What Last Year’s Reading Challenge Taught Me

Dec 24, 2018

Last year was the first time I have ever taken part in a reading challenge. I’m generally one to shy away from structure and rules so mapping out a challenge each month was a challenge in and of itself!

I didn’t complete it.

But I did read every month, and still read a ton of books this year.

My main takeaway from doing this reading challenge was to simplify it. I thought having a theme each month would help me expand my library, but it ended up feeling like I had to do a ton of research for each theme and was not reading the books that were already on my bookshelf and on my to-be-read pile. I felt more like a failure if I read those books than a book that fit the theme of the month.

And that’s missing the entire point…

Which was simply to read and read and read!

So this year’s reading challenge is going to be much more simple.

Pick a book you want to and read it.

Sounds great, right?

I hope you’ll join me : )

Hi, I’m Chaucee, the hands behind the words on this screen. I started this blog as a college freshman in 2008 as a creative outlet while studying for my bachelor’s. Since then it’s grown into a way to document things I love and things I’m learning. Welcome : )
