Hi, I’m Chaucee, the hands behind the words on this screen. I started this blog as a college freshman in 2008 as a creative outlet while studying for my bachelor’s. Since then it’s grown into a way to document things I love and things I’m learning.

Happiness Project: September 2021

September was pretty much a whirlwind for me. I was sick for two weeks and was basically unconscious to the world which made the month FLY by. I don’t really recommend catching the flu during a global pandemic, but at least it helped me to stop smoking and drinking, right?

Here’s what brought me joy in September!

I got a new chainsaw! I live at a high elevation in the mountains of Colorado and the electric chainsaw I was using died on me. This bad boy has been cutting down trees like BUTTAH. (Don’t worry – we only cut down already dead trees. I live in a forest, I don’t want the trees cut down either!!).

At the beginning of September I was back in Pennsylvania for three family functions: my grandparent’s 60th wedding anniversary (that’s them above! aren’t they ADORABLE. Side note: this is the first suit I’ve ever worn and I think I’m a convert), my geat uncle’s funeral, and my cousin’s wedding. This trip was SO good for my soul. Even though this was how I caught the flu…

Okay so this isn’t exactly happy … more like the exact opposite … but I couldn’t let this month pass without including Handsome. I had to say goodbye to him this month after 2.5 years together. He was super old when I adopted him but I’m glad we had the last few years together. He’s dearly missed <3

This is me and my sister Anna celebrating her birthday! I made funfetti cake, bought gold crowns with glitter, and we watched the first episode of the new season of British Bake Off. 10/10 would recommend.

Autumn has officially come to the canyon and I’m SOAKING it all up. Living my best life. Surprisingly we haven’t had any snow yet. Last year our first snowfall was September 9th. But I’m not complaining! Early snowfall makes the colorful leaves drop early so I’m glad the cold weather has held off for longer this year. Autumn is a short season up here in the mountains and every day I wake up with a HUGE grin on my face. It’s magical! Autmn, not the grin.
