December has always been a magical month to me. The lights, the songs, the spirit of giving, the cozy wood stove fires, the night snow illuminated by the moon, the family gatherings, the hot sticky buns on Christmas morning…I absolutely LOVE the holiday season. Everything is just so cozy and cheerful!
However, for some reason this year didn’t quite feel like the holiday season to me. However, I’m glad there were some magical moments this December. Here’s what brought me joy this month!
I started reading this book and every single word in it is changing my life. Highly recommend picking up a copy!
Christmas with my crew was as ADORABLE as this photo! I’m so thankful for these three pups AND for matching buffalo plaid pajamas.
My friend Danielle spent New Year’s Eve here at the cabin before hitting the road to Portland, OR. I’m glad we got to spend some time together before she headed west to start the next chapter in her life!
Milo, my hospice foster dog graduated from physical therapy! I’m so thankful his body has healed so well and he’s back to being his happy bouncy self. And how ADORABLE is his haircut? It reminds me of this cartoon character.
Over the holidays my family went dog sledding! This is the second time we’ve done this and it was a blast just like the first time. What I love about this company is that they’re actually a seld dog refuge that takes in dogs that either wouldn’t make top-tier sled dog teams or need to be rehomed from their family home for various reasons. These dogs are a deep drive to work and run and be in a pack and having a job like this lets them live their best lives!

We have BARELY gotten snow all winter and I was like a kid on Christmas morning when we got a big dumping of 8 inches of snow on New Year’s Eve! Snow makes the cabin and the woods magical.
As the snow was coming down Danielle and I enjoyed this delicious cheeseboard. Well, technically it was a DOUBLE cheeseboard because we had so much cheese, a variety of jams, and three types of crackers that we had to use two boards! We snacked on this while watching the new season of Queer Eye and waiting for the ball to drop (which in Colorado is 10pm since we watch the NYC ball drop on the east coast!).
What brought you joy this December?
