MARISSA: Xclusiv Clothing Co. filled tables and racks with colorful, quality-made men’s and women’s polos and sportswear, while Electric MVMT brought a collection of rave-ready hoodies laced with illuminated piping. My favorite were the shredded vintage denim vests designed (and modeled) by Audaces Solum. They looked beautiful paired with the candy-colored pants and accessories Audaces also had on display as part of her Brave Denim line. Most amazingly of all, Audaces started designing a mere 6 months ago!
LINDSAY: What I found made this event so unique, aside from the stunning clothing and accessories, was the artwork on the walls. The wide variety of Warhol-esque paintings featuring the faces of pop culture icons like Oprah, Claude Monet interpretations, and colorful floral motifs really complimented all of the merchandise throughout the shop. I had my eye on quite a few pieces by the end of the night, and will most definitely be stopping by Kembrel again for another round!
MARISSA: In case you aren’t aware of Kembrel, it’s a different breed of Philly boutique. Aimed at the young, dapper and penniless shopper, Kembrel showcases established names alongside local, independent designers.
Monthly trunk shows carry out their mission by serving up a dose of new, local brands alongside a rich slice of mainstays such as Vanessa Mooney and Sherwood. And rest assured, they always bring out a proper entourage of trendy Philadelphians.
Keep a look out for Volume 7 next month to gain local inspiration and some unique holiday shopping!
