Hi, I’m Chaucee, the hands behind the words on this screen. I started this blog as a college freshman in 2008 as a creative outlet while studying for my bachelor’s. Since then it’s grown into a way to document things I love and things I’m learning.

What To Wear On New Years Eve

Hi everyone! My name is Alina and I’m the owner of Philly’s own Aoki Boutique. Perhaps some of you have “met” me here on Streets and Stripes before, or maybe I’ve even had the pleasure of welcoming you in person to my store in Center City. Aoki opened in the Spring, so this is my first New Years Eve as a retailer, instead of just a reveler! The old conundrum of not being able to find the perfect thing to wear is never more apparent than on NYE, so I’ve put together a little style guide on some of my favorite NYE outfits for a truly fabulous transition into 2013. Below are my three top picks, all currently available at Aoki.

1. This outfit just screams NYE with the glitz of the sparkly sequin mini, and the glamour of the faux fur vest. This look is perfect for anyone who wants to be the life of the party, while still keeping it classy, of course! The turquoise collar necklace adds a bit of drama and rounds out the look by drawing the eye upward of the bold skirt. The outfit is heavily-textured, so a simple white tank under the vest keeps it from being over-the-top, and helps to achieve balance and sophistication. Pair this look with sheer black tights, black pumps, and a glass of champagne, and you’re good to go!

2. This outfit is perfect for the woman who understands that a more streamlined and sophisticated silhouette does not have to be traditional or boring! This navy three-quarter sleeve dress is a nice departure from the standard little black dress that tends to be a NYE go-to for so many of us. The style appears conservative at first, but the pointed shoulders are an unexpected touch that both provides structure to the silhouette, and keeps the look fun and youthful. This feather collar is the definition of fabulous, and is the ultimate statement piece for an evening of celebrating! Keep legs bare and slip into a classic nude heel to continue the sleek and sexy look from head to toe.

3. This look is for the woman who is confident in taking little style risks and loves to play around with fashion. Animal print is both timeless yet modern, and while this looks like a skirt, they’re actually shorts in the back, which will help prevent a wardrobe as the hours get later! The sparkly blue bag really pops against the neutrals in the shorts and blouse, and of course nothing says NYE quite like sequins. A simple black silk blouse helps to maintain a bit of balance and moderation, great for ensuring that the outfit doesn’t go overboard. Finally, the layered necklaces (especially the iridescent feather one) draw the eye up and round out the look for an overall feeling of femininity, fun, and fabulousness! Pair this with opaque black tights and black pumps and head out on the town!
