Hi, I’m Chaucee, the hands behind the words on this screen. I started this blog as a college freshman in 2008 as a creative outlet while studying for my bachelor’s. Since then it’s grown into a way to document things I love and things I’m learning.

After 3 years of working from home, here’s what I’ve learned

When I first started working from home three years ago it was a definite culture shock. I started researching the BEST way to work from home and while I picked up a few tips along the way, here’s what I found worked the best.

Do what works for you

Step one: don’t listen to all those blog posts that tell you that you MUST get out of your pajamas every day and pretend like you’re going to work. Some of my best ideas have come from sitting in a pair of comfy pj bottoms.

Don’t multi-task

This is a general life tip: focus on the task at hand. I used to think that multitasking was the way to be more productive, but instead I made more mistakes and felt more overwhelmed when trying to do 2-3 things at once. Focus.

Have a morning routine

When you work from home, it can be tempting to roll right out of bed and onto the computer. Well, logging on to the computer (after a big cup of coffee of course). I wake up thinking of all I have to get done that day and the temptation is to get right to it. But I’ve learned that doesn’t work well for me. I feel overwhelmed and stressed without taking some time in the morning to focus my mind, calm my body, and organize my thoughts.

In the end...

You simply have to find what works for YOU. How does this happen? Trial and error baby.

What does working from home / remotely look like for you?
