Hi, I’m Chaucee, the hands behind the words on this screen. I started this blog as a college freshman in 2008 as a creative outlet while studying for my bachelor’s. Since then it’s grown into a way to document things I love and things I’m learning.

Three New Documentaries

When the weather becomes cold it’s the perfect chance to get cozy on the couch and watch a documentary. But finding a good one is the challenge! Here are three documentaries that I watched recently and enjoyed that I think you will as well.

One of Us

A rare look inside the closed community of Hasidic Jews in Brooklyn, New York. Less than 2% of Hasidic Jews leave the fold, but one brave woman, a mother of 7 children, and a physical abuse victim at the hands of her husband for over 12 years decides enough is enough.

The Life And Death Of Marsha P Johnson

Marsha P Johnson was an African American transgender activist in the 1980’s and 90’s whose body turned up in the Hudson River under mysterious circumstances. But the police ruled it as a suicide and no investigation was ever launched. This documentary uses never before seen footage and interviews in search for the truth behind Marsha’s death.

Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated

Even if you aren’t a fan, this documentary should be on your watch list. Demi Lovato got her big break as an actress and singer from Disney’s hit franchise Camp Rock. However, despite having more wealth, opportunity, and success than she’s ever had, Demi was battling a cocaine addiction, alcoholism, and an eating disorder, all before she was 19 years old. In this brutally honest and vulnerable documentary Demi shares her story and recovery.
