Hi, I’m Chaucee, the hands behind the words on this screen. I started this blog as a college freshman in 2008 as a creative outlet while studying for my bachelor’s. Since then it’s grown into a way to document things I love and things I’m learning.

Please Take Photos of Yourself

I first started this blog on Blogspot. The other day, I was looking through the style post archives and felt a sense of gratitude for them. Don’t get me wrong, they’re also incredibly embarrassing. BUT, I’m thankful I chose to document my evolution over the years. And who doesn’t have fashion regrets from their college years?!

I think taking photos of yourself, or asking someone else to take a photo of you, can be an act of self-love. You are worth remembering! You are worth taking up space! If I had not taken these photos, they wouldn’t exist. I wouldn’t remember these moments or be able to look back and remember where I was and what I was feeling at that moment in time.

For a long time, I felt embarrassed about these photos. It felt self-indulgent and like I was feelin’ myself too much. But I hereby declare that stupid. I SHOULD be feelin’ myself. I’m worthy of being noticed, even if it’s’ just by myself and my hard drive.

So take the pictures. Be IN the pictures. Take self-portraits! You’ll be glad you have them in the long run.

And with that, here are a few more photos I saved from the old blog.
