FEATURED

I’m not one of those people who just have to try every new tech gadget* when it comes out. I’m pretty particular when it comes to spending time on new things mainly because it seems like there is some new platform or app that comes out

It’s no secret that I have a slight addiction to podcasts (see here, here, and here). But lately, I’ve been listening to the same programs over and over again and have felt an itching for something new. This new (to me) podcast I found has me hooked.

FEATURED

It’s no secret that I’m hooked on podcasts. I love listening while I’m driving, editing photos, or cooking. There are so many different kinds of podcasts dealing with everything from feminism, relationships, finances, career advice, to real life stories and more. The podcasts listed here are ones

  • So much for autumn 🍂 🤷🏼‍♀️
  • Seeing as today is #MentalHealthDay I thought I'd share a little bit about my ESA dog Jax, what being an ESA dog means, and the difference between an ESA, therapy, and service animal.

Over the years Jax has traveled with me all across the country and even did his first international trip last year!

So to start, here’s the difference between the three…

A THERAPY dog is a dog that is trained to offer comfort and to interact with people to help them feel better. They often have the training to be calm around medical equipment (things like IV lines, wheelchairs, and oxygen tanks). These dogs can be certified at different levels and could potentially work at a children’s hospital or nursing home.

A SERVICE dog is specially trained to perform a function or job for an owner who has a physical, intellectual, or emotional disability. This can be anything from seeing-eye dogs to medical alert dogs trained to sniff out seizures, heart defects, and other medical issues.

An ESA dog is an emotional support dog that offers comfort to people who are diagnosed with an emotional or mental health disorder. In order to qualify for an ESA dog, you must be certified as emotionally disabled by a psychologist, therapist, psychiatrist or other duly-licensed mental health professional. Unlike service or therapy dogs, ESA dogs do not have to go through a specific training but MUST qualify by not causing a disturbance or hardship while out in public spaces and for a property manager/landlord.

I won’t go into the details of why my doctor, therapist and I decided that certifying Jax as an ESA dog would be a great option for me, but ever since Jax has been by my side I haven’t had one major panic attack since. I mean…look how cute he is! He has no travel anxiety whatsoever - in a plane, in a car, on a train, nada. He’s very calm in public and has excellent leash manners and the temperament to go with being an ESA dog.

Even though traveling with Jax definitely brings more stares and all the extra attention from fellow travelers can be uncomfortable, having him by my side is 100% worth it.

Swipe to see photos of Jax at werk and a puppy pic!

  • When I started working with Caroline of Linden Co. Floristry, she wanted a new website design that would represent her business in a sophisticated way, but still capture the elements of her brand that are unique and unusual.

She needed a website that would not only attract the attention of future clients, but also inspire them and cast the vision of what it would be like to work with Linden Co on floral design for their event.

In this website visual guide I put forth two options of what the vibe and feel of the new website could look like. I do this so that before any coding beings, we are on the same page. Same page = streamlined project + less stress!

Which one is your favorite? Tell me in the comments!

  • The minute I sit down to take an online course a pile of pups arrive 😂it's getting colder each day up here in the mountains so I don't mind the cuddles.

Every Friday I've begun taking some time out of my work day to continue learning and polishing up my skills as a strategic web designer.

Here I'm finishing up a course on conversion copywriting that has COMPLETELY changed the way I write sales pages, client websites, and even my own website! So glad I decided to take it.

Do you take any online courses? If you could take a course on anything in the world, what would it be?

  • Living in the mountains means a lot of drive time when I'm meeting up with friends or running errands.

Thankfully I'm able to work from home as a web designer so I don't have a daily commute, but when I do then I love to turn on podcasts.

I listen to everything from true crime, to docu-series, nutrition, Latino USA, podcasts about money, and podcasts about being a business owner and entrepreneur.

A few months ago I put together a list of podcasts that have most encouraged me as an entrepreneur and I recently updated the list to add three more shows and actually remove a recommendation. Tap the link in my bio to find your new favorite!
